R122, in partnership with Challenging Heights, has organised a free breast cancer screening exercise for more than 80 women in Accra.
The initiative, held on October 5, 2025, formed part of R122’s flagship programme, “Living Well, Living Aware,” and contributed to activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The exercise underscored the vital importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Hannah Addo Ahedor, Executive Director of R122, emphasised that the condition is treatable when identified early.
“Breast cancer is treatable,” she said, “but sadly, too many women are diagnosed when it is already too late. Our goal is to change that narrative in our community, one woman at a time.”
The screening was conducted by a skilled medical team from Pentecost Hospital, Madina, led by Senior Nursing Officer Leticia Gadzekpe and Senior Medical Officer and Quality Manager Dr Ama Agyeman-Dua.

Participants also benefited from an engaging wellness session focused on nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices, facilitated by a professional wellness coach.
Beyond the health checks, the event served as a platform for solidarity and empowerment, encouraging women to become health advocates within their families and communities.
Organisers described the initiative as a holistic approach to wellness — addressing physical health while nurturing social and emotional well-being.

Mrs Addo Ahedor further announced that the success of this year’s programme would mark the beginning of an annual tradition.
She reaffirmed R122’s commitment to supporting women by addressing their spiritual, social, and economic challenges while promoting a culture of purposeful and healthy living.

R122 is a Christian women’s organisation dedicated to empowering women through faith-based, knowledge-driven, and wellness-oriented initiatives that address spiritual, social, and economic well-being.
