Eight teenage girls have been arrested by the Nkwanta South police in the Oti Region for breaking into a home and stealing over GH¢20,000 in cash and other valuables.
The identity of the money’s owner, who has fallen victim to a series of robberies, remains unknown.
This situation has raised concern among neighbours, who are now on high alert.
The suspects, all students from schools in the Nkwanta South municipal area, are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
Their ages range from 13 to 17 years. According to the girls, they are part of a gang that has been monitoring the owner.
They would only act when he was away from the house during school breaks.
Additionally, it has been reported that one of the suspects, who is currently at large with their parents, has benefited from the theft, receiving approximately GH¢2,000.
The police are urging the public to provide any information that could assist with the ongoing investigation.
