It was a display of brilliance and consistency as Ghana National College outclassed Tema Secondary School and Effiduase Senior High Commercial School to book a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The “Nananom” ended the contest with a commanding 65 points, leaving Tema Secondary School and Effiduase SHCS trailing with 33 and 28 points respectively.
From the onset, Ghana National College stamped their authority — finishing Round One with 20 points, ahead of Tema Sec (14pts) and Effiduase (10pts). Their dominance deepened as they widened the margin to 34 points by the end of Round Two.

In the Problem of the Day, Ghana National College proved their mettle with an impressive 9 out of 10, while Effiduase SHCS earned 8 out of 10, and Tema Sec managed 4 out of 10.
By the end of Round Four, the Cape Coast-based school had sealed their victory with 59 points, before wrapping up the contest with a strong 65 points at the final buzzer.
This outstanding performance not only sends Ghana National College into the quarterfinal stage but also ensures they retain their seeded status for next year’s championship.
The “Nananom” will now look to build on this momentum as they chase a place in the semifinals and a shot at the coveted NSMQ trophy.
