The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters has arrested twelve individuals in connection with the possession and transportation of 598 cartons of BB cartridges at Nsakye, near Nsawam, in the Eastern Region.
According to a post shared on Facebook, the suspects identified as Emmanuel Tsornyake, driver of a DAF articulated truck with registration number EN 792-19; Ofori Jumbo; Paul Darko; Charles Laryea; Theophilus Laryea; and George Teye were apprehended while loading the ammunition into a specially designed compartment in the truck.
Three others, Noah Tretsu, Eric Danquah, and Billy Gamati, were also detained for their suspected involvement. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had concealed 317 cartons of live cartridges and 281 empty cartons within the trailer in an attempt to evade detection.
Acting on credible intelligence that the truck was being used to transport ammunition from a farm, the police moved swiftly to intercept the vehicle.
The statement noted that further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects. Ebenezer Okyere reportedly named Samuel Kwadjo Baffoe as the owner of the cartridges. Baffoe was subsequently arrested at Amasaman, where he identified Gloria Bartels as his supplier.

He further disclosed that he had been supplying ammunition to two Nigerian nationals, identified as Tony and Chika, allegedly for export to Nigeria.
All twelve suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court.

Police authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying intelligence operations and enforcing stricter measures to curb the illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition across the country.
