The Ketu South MP, Dzifa Gomashie, has cut the sod for the continuation of a 12-unit one-story classroom block for the Avoeme Basic School.
The project consists of constructing a six-unit classroom on the first floor to curb the phenomenon of a lack of classrooms, leading to overpopulated classes, with some classrooms accommodating about a hundred students.
Madam Gomashie chronicled how education had transformed her life, hence her commitment to providing a holistic quality education for her constituents.

She said that she injected a part of the Common Fund to finance the project started by her predecessor and abandoned halfway through.
She expressed optimism that when the project is completed, it would eradicate the overcrowded classrooms and provide a suitable environment for academic activities.
“So, it is my duty to give the children what I wanted to myself. So, for the past four years, I have saved something from the common fund, and today we have been able to give that contract out. I am hoping it will ease the pressure on the classrooms”, she said.

She further indicated that “some classrooms have over 100 students in a classroom. What kind of teaching can go on in that environment? So, it is a headache that we have carried for a long time, and I thank God for the opportunity to do something about it”, she said.
The management of the Avoeme Basic School commended the MP on the initiative and appealed for the establishment of an information and communication technology laboratory and library to facilitate teaching and learning.
Madam Gomashi also commissioned a multipurpose canteen shed for the Aflao Senior High Technical School.
