Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has disclosed that the Skills for Jobs Programme implemented under his leadership led to the creation of about 15,000 jobs in communities across Ghana.
He said the initiative focused on empowering women and young people through practical training and enterprise support.
“The programme trained about 50,000 people, mostly women, in skills areas like CCTV installation, detergents and cosmetics making, makeup and beauty therapy, decor, wig making, beading, bakery, cereals processing, and juice making,” he stated.
Mr Nkansah explained that around 10 percent of the trainees received grants or starter packs to begin their own ventures, ensuring sustainability and community-level economic impact.
He emphasised that the programme not only enhanced livelihoods but also contributed significantly to women’s economic empowerment.
He noted that his tenure as NEIP boss saw the implementation of several impactful projects, contrary to claims that his period in office lacked substance.
“Some people think I went there to joke, but the results speak for themselves,” he said, adding that he plans to publish more success stories from his time in office.
