The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has marked the fifth anniversary of the death of former president, Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, the party lauded the founding president of the Fourth Republic, Rawlings, for his enduring contributions to national development and the welfare of the Ghanaian people.
The incumbent NDC affirmed that the late president's legacy remains firmly etched in the country’s history.
The statement also paid tribute to his late wife, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, noting that she too recently passed away and is yet to receive a farewell befitting her lifetime of service to the nation.
“The past five years have been ones of mourning and sorrow for us in the NDC,” the statement read. “Comrade President, Chairman Rawlings, continue to rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.”
The former president passed away on 12th November 2020. Five years later, his wife died on 23rd October 2025. The state has yet to organise a formal state funeral in her honour on November 28.
