The Police have arrested a 37-year-old carpenter accused of killing a security guard at the Kyebi Presbyterian College of Education in the Eastern Region. DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Public Affairs Officer for the Eastern South Regional Command, confirmed that the suspect, Kwame Arhin — also known as Abompe — is in custody and being prepared for court.
The arrest took place on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after officers found the suspect hiding in a bush near the school. According to the police, the victim, Jonas Baah Sarpong, worked as a security guard at the college.
Sarpong’s body was discovered near the Kyebi Court Complex on Saturday, November 15, following a distress call to the police. Early investigations point to a confrontation between the two men before the attack.
Police say the suspect allegedly slashed the guard’s throat with a cutlass and fled the scene. A Crime Scene Management team later examined the area and transported the body to the Kyebi Government Hospital morgue.
The remains have since been moved to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and an autopsy.
DSP Fianko-Okyere said investigators are still gathering evidence. “The suspect is in custody being processed for court whilst investigation is ongoing,” he noted in the statement.
Police assure the public that they are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
