The Member of Parliament for Lambussie, Prof. Titus Beyuo, has rejected claims that President John Dramani Mahama is involved in the petitions seeking the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa.
He emphasised that the President harbours no personal animosity towards the officials.
Prof. Beyuo cautioned against spreading unfounded rumours and stressed that any action should follow the law.
“We ought to exercise restraint, refrain from attributing motives without evidence, and allow legal processes to determine accountability,” he said.
Prof. Beyuo further assured that the President would remain impartial in the matter, highlighting that Mahama has no intention of intervening personally in the removal of these officials.
“I am confident that His Excellency holds no personal vendetta against any of the individuals involved and would not entangle himself in this process,” he added.
He spoke on Channel One TV.
The remarks come amid ten petitions submitted to the Office of the President by private citizens, seeking the dismissal of the Special Prosecutor, the EC Chair, and her deputies, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare and Samuel Tettey.
The petitions cite alleged misconduct, including incompetence, abuse of office, and issues surrounding electoral management.
