Ghana today, Friday, December 5, marks the 41st National Farmers’ Day, a nationwide celebration honouring the farmers and fishers whose dedication continues to anchor the country’s food security and rural livelihoods.
The week-long observance began on Monday, December 1, at the Ho Sports Stadium with the official opening of the 2025 National Agricultural Fair.
The fair attracted thousands of participants, including farmers, agribusiness innovators, policymakers, investors, and exhibitors, all showcasing advancements in technology, value addition, and sustainable farming practices.
This year’s celebration is themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future”, reflecting the government’s emphasis on strengthening food systems, promoting local consumption, and building long-term resilience in the agricultural sector.
At today’s climax, President John Dramani Mahama will present awards to outstanding farmers across multiple categories, recognising excellence in productivity, innovation, and impact on community development.
Across the country, Ghanaians are expected to take part in various national, regional, and district ceremonies honouring individuals whose work continues to drive agricultural growth.
Established in 1985, Farmers’ Day has grown into one of Ghana’s most significant national events—celebrating the enduring contributions of farmers and fishers to the nation’s development and economic stability.
