An emotional scene unfolded at the funeral of highlife legend Daddy Lumba on Saturday when his wife, Odo Broni, broke down in tears during the ceremony.
Serwaa Broni was visibly overwhelmed with emotion as she wept openly, drawing the attention of nearby mourners who moved in to console her.
This ensued as thousands of mourners, music lovers and dignitaries converged on the iconic Baba Yara Sports Stadium this morning to pay their final funeral rites for highlife legend.
Months of legal dispute threatened to overshadow today’s ceremony after a High Court injunction briefly halted preparations, with interlocutory orders and family disagreements over burial authority making national headlines.
Many attendees wore traditional funeral cloth in muted colors, while some donned accessories bearing the legend’s iconic image.

NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, and the Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu were all notably present.
Renowned businessmen Osei Kwame Despite and Akwasi Sarpong also arrived to pay their last respects.
Nana Acheampong, overcome with emotion, delivered a performance of the first song he composed with Daddy Lumba.
