Ghanaian reggae musician David Oscar Dogbe has announced the release of his latest single, Good Evening Koforidua, a musical tribute to the people of Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The song, scheduled for release on January 2, 2026, is already being tipped as a potential anthem for the city, blending soulful reggae rhythms with a strong sense of home-grown pride and patriotism.
Good Evening Koforidua goes beyond catchy melodies, offering listeners a lyrical tour of the city’s iconic landmarks and neighbourhoods. Through references to familiar streets and places, Oscar seeks to connect with listeners on a personal level, evoking the everyday sights and sounds that define life in Koforidua.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the song carries a clear social message. It is designed to stir communal love among residents, strengthen the bond between the people and their homeland, and foster a spirit of unity aimed at the collective development of the city.
While the song celebrates those currently living in the Eastern Regional capital, it also serves as a call to Koforidua indigenes across Ghana and in the diaspora. Oscar uses the song to encourage successful sons and daughters of the soil to look back and give back to their hometown.
The track underscores the idea that the future growth of Koforidua depends on the love and contributions of its people, regardless of where they live.
“This isn’t just a song; it’s a movement for our hometown. I want every person from Koforidua to feel that pulse of pride and the urge to contribute to our beautiful town,” David Oscar asserted.
Good Evening Koforidua marks David Oscar’s first release of 2026, setting the tone for the year with a message of pride, unity and community spirit.
