Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has held a courtesy meeting with a Japanese government delegation led by Japan’s Foreign Minister, Ayano Kunimitsu, at the Jubilee House in Accra.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude for Japan’s continued support for Ghana’s development efforts.
She highlighted the importance of expanding partnerships that drive inclusive growth, particularly initiatives that create opportunities for young people.

The Vice President emphasized that Ghana values its strategic partnership with Japan and is committed to broadening cooperation in areas aligned with the country’s development priorities.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in trade and investment, economic cooperation, infrastructure development, education, technology transfer, and capacity building. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues, reaffirming their commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable development.

In her remarks, Foreign Minister Ayano Kunimitsu conveyed Japan’s goodwill and reaffirmed her government’s resolve to deepen bilateral ties, emphasizing mutually beneficial initiatives and sustained diplomatic engagement.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, and other senior government officials.

Press Secretary to the Vice President, Maame Ama Pratt, briefed the media after the meeting, outlining key takeaways and reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana–Japan relations for the mutual benefit of both countries.
