The Ministry of the Interior has renewed curfew hours for Nkwanta Township and its surrounding communities in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, following advice from the Oti Regional Security Council.
In a press release dated January 19, the Ministry stated that the curfew will now run from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, effective Monday, January 19.
The government has called on chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint and resolve conflicts through non-violent means to help restore and sustain peace in the municipality.
Meanwhile, a total ban remains in force on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within Nkwanta Township and its environs.
The statement warned that anyone found in possession of such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
