New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has said his extensive experience in politics and business positions him as a strong contender for the presidency.
According to him, his ideas and vision are shaped by decades of practical engagement in both fields. He recounted that in the late 1980s, as a young Ghanaian in the United States, he abandoned his education to return to Ghana to revive his struggling business.
"To abandon my education to come to Ghana was a bit risk that I took, and I promised my wife that I won't fail. Eventually, here we are today," he said.
"So we have quite a number of experiences in businesses and politics as well," he added.
Mr Agyapong also noted that he served in Parliament for 24 years, a period he said deepened his understanding of governance and public service.
He said he now harbours a strong ambition to become President of Ghana.
"I have been a member of parliament for 24 years, so I am well vested in politics. Today, we are aspiring for higher positions, and I am contesting as the flagbearer of my party," the former Assin Central MP noted.
Mr Agyapong made the remarks at a book launch in Accra on Tuesday.
