The Volta North Regional Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with the alleged trafficking of substances believed to be narcotic drugs within the Volta Region.
The suspects, identified as Etornam Vumadzi, a driver, and Emmanuel Komlagah, were arrested on Friday, January 30, 2026, following an intelligence-led police operation.
According to the police, the two were intercepted while conveying the suspected substances from Godenu towards the Togo border in a Toyota minibus bearing registration number GT-6592-19.

In a statement issued on Saturday, January 31, and signed by the Volta North Regional Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Kwao, the police said a thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 18 sacks, each containing 36 yellow, oval-shaped parcels.
This brought the total number of parcels retrieved to 648, all suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The statement further disclosed that initial investigations revealed attempts to compromise the operation.
A third party, identified only as Joseph, allegedly contacted the officers by phone and offered a bribe of GH¢150,000. The suspects themselves are also said to have offered an upfront bribe of GH¢32,000. All such offers were firmly declined by the police team.

The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. They are expected to be put before a court to face the full rigours of the law.
