The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has assured party supporters in the Effutu Constituency that their efforts in the 2024 general elections will not be forgotten, despite the party’s failure to win the parliamentary seat.
Speaking during his Thank You Tour in the Central Region on Wednesday, February 12, 2026, Mr Nketia said his visit to Effutu was to appreciate party members for their dedication and sacrifices during the campaign.
“We came to thank you for all the efforts you put in during our campaign,” he said. “I am here to show gratitude to you. This is even though our party did not win the parliamentary seat for this area.”
According to him, the NDC believes in recognising loyalty and hard work, regardless of electoral outcomes.
“We do not believe that when it comes to appreciation, we should thank only those who voted for us. So, thank you for supporting the NDC,” he added.
Mr Nketia also expressed concern over the party’s continued difficulty in securing the Effutu parliamentary seat, despite what he described as strong grassroots support.
He noted that the constituency has a significant number of NDC supporters, making the party’s defeat in the area particularly disappointing.
“I know Effutu is made up of a lot of NDC supporters, but it’s surprising how the opponents come and grab the seat,” he remarked.
The NDC Chairman urged party faithful not to be discouraged by the setback and encouraged them to remain committed to the party’s ideals.
“We can see the sacrifices you made. As happens with all sacrifices, the benefits are reaped later. So, don’t worry,” he assured.
He stressed that sustained unity, organisation, and commitment at the constituency level would be key to future electoral success.
The Effutu Constituency, located in the Central Region, has been a competitive political battleground between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in recent elections.
In the 2024 general elections, the NDC was unable to unseat the incumbent, despite intensified campaigning and strong grassroots mobilisation.
Mr Nketia’s Thank You Tour forms part of the party’s broader post-election strategy to reconnect with supporters, assess challenges, and rebuild momentum ahead of future elections.
