The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Muslims in Ghana and across the world as they commence the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement dated February 19, the party congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the beginning of the sacred period of fasting, prayer and spiritual reflection.
Describing Ramadan as a time of “fasting, prayer, reflection, sacrifice and renewed devotion to Allah,” the NDC said the holy month embodies values that are critical to national development.

“It is also a time that reminds us of the enduring values of compassion, humility, generosity, discipline, and peaceful coexistence — virtues that are essential to national unity and development,” the statement emphasised.
The party acknowledged what it described as the significant contributions of the Muslim community to Ghana’s democratic journey, social cohesion and economic growth.
“The NDC acknowledges and deeply appreciates the significant contributions of the Muslim community to Ghana’s democratic journey, social cohesion, and economic growth,” the statement said, adding that prayers for peace and stability remain invaluable to the nation’s progress.
Encouraging Muslims to remain steadfast throughout the fasting period, the NDC prayed for divine strength and blessings for the Ummah.
“As you embark on this spiritual journey, we pray that Allah grants you strength, good health, and abundant blessings. May this holy month renew our collective commitment to justice, inclusiveness, and the building of a more united and compassionate Ghana,” it noted.
Signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the statement reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to promoting equality and opportunity for all citizens.
“The NDC remains steadfast in its commitment to championing policies and programmes that promote equality, opportunity, and improved livelihoods for all, regardless of religious or ethnic background,” it stated, wishing the entire Muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan.
