A 20-year-old seamstress apprentice, Gifty Aba Otuba, died on the spot after she was knocked down by a motorcycle at Gomoa Biakoye on the Kasoa–Winneba Highway.
The accident occurred at Gomoa Biakoye in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region. The deceased was reportedly crossing the highway to deliver smoked fish to chop bar operators before returning to work.
Speaking to Adom News, the deceased’s parents, who are fishmongers, said they had sent their daughter to deliver the smoked fish to customers on the opposite side of the road.
According to them, while she was crossing the busy highway, a motorcyclist travelling from Fetteh Kakraba towards Kasoa knocked her down, and she died instantly.
The rider, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to St Gregory Hospital, where he is in a coma and receiving treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the St Gregory Hospital’s morgue by officers from the Awutu Bereku Police Command.
Police are yet to comment officially on the incident.
