Six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School have been arrested by the Police for allegedly assaulting a final-year student of Adisadel College during the inter-colleges sports festival in Cape Coast.
A Police news release, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, said the victim, Master Rexford Owusu-Ansah, sustained a fractured bone around his right eye after he was attacked at Pedu Junction on Friday, February 20, 2026.
The victim and two friends were returning to campus from the Cape Coast Stadium when a group of Aggrey Memorial students confronted them and asked whether they attended Adisadel College. The group allegedly attacked them immediately after, the release said.
Two friends of the victim managed to escape, but he (victim) was overpowered, knocked to the ground and beaten.
It said his iPhone 17 Pro Max, “pocket money” of about GH¢1,400.00, and his shoes were taken during the incident.
He was rushed to the stadium clinic by bystanders and later referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he was admitted and discharged on Sunday, February 22.
A police medical report confirmed that Master Owusu-Ansah suffered a fractured bone around the right eye, which he was unable to open.
The six suspects, all minors, were handed over to the Kotokuraba Police Station by the authorities of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School at about 1930 hours on the day of the incident.
“They are assisting with investigations and will be made to face the law,” the release said.
It said the victim’s two friends, who escaped, had indicated that they could identify the attackers.
The Central Regional Police Command has condemned the incident and assured the public that due process would be followed to ensure the offenders face the law.
