The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has arrested 23-year-old student, Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford, for publishing obscene material online, contrary to section 280 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
The arrest follows the discovery of intimate videos circulating on social media during a routine cyber patrol on Friday, 27th February, 2026.
The content, posted on a public Snapchat account under the handle @biggforddd123, involved multiple women, with recordings dating from 2023 to January 26.
During questioning, Hayford admitted to posting the videos on Wednesday, February 25, claiming it was in response to a TikTok challenge called “Anti Shakira’s.” He further admitted to recording another sex video in 2023, which he claimed to have sold to an American woman known as Naya, for an amount of USD 600, equivalent to GH¢6,500 at the time.
One of the women featured in the videos was also invited to the police station for questioning.
Following the interviews, the suspect was handed over to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters for further investigation. He was later released on police enquiry bail as investigations continue.
The police have cautioned the public against posting obscene or other related materials online, emphasising that such acts are illegal and that authorities will continue to ensure the internet remains safe for all Ghanaians.
