The ongoing JoyNews’ “Democracy Is Not For Sale” forum in Tamale is focusing on the rising influence of money in Ghanaian politics.
The forum has provided a platform for open discussions on the escalating cost of political participation, vote buying, and campaign financing.
One of the panelists, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Prof Eliasu Alhassan, has warned that democracy in Ghana is increasingly being reduced to a commodity, with political power influenced by money rather than the will of the people.
