The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has promoted Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware to the rank of Associate Professor. The promotion took effect from January 12, 2026, and was approved by the University Council.

Dr. Anankware works in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Production under the School of Agriculture and Technology. His area of specialisation is Entomology, which focuses on the study of insects and their impact on crops and the environment. Before this promotion, he was a Senior Lecturer.

Dr. Anankware is not only known for his academic work but also for his leadership roles. He is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in charge of General Services. In the past, he served as the Vice Dean of Students and also as the Head of the Department of Horticulture and Crop Production at UENR.

His promotion is seen as a reward for his years of dedication to teaching, research, and service to both the university and the country.

Dr. Anankware has made important contributions to the field of Entomology. He is recognised as the first entomophagical entomologist in Africa, a field that studies insects that feed on other insects, which can help in natural pest control.

His work supports farmers by promoting safer and more sustainable ways to manage pests without heavy use of chemicals. This is important for improving crop production and protecting the environment.

This promotion is also a major personal achievement. At age 39, Dr. Anankware becomes the youngest Associate Professor in the history of UENR. This highlights his fast rise in academia and his strong commitment to excellence.

Although his rank has changed, other conditions of his appointment remain the same. The university has asked him to formally accept the offer in writing, while the relevant offices have been notified to make the needed administrative updates.
