The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has held a stakeholder consultation session for the draft anti-doping regulations.
Tuesday's event was in furtherance of the Ghana Anti-Doping Act, 2024 (Act 1116), which established the legal framework for the Ghana Anti-Doping Agency (GADA) to enforce clean sport regulations, aligning Ghana with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards.
The session was attended by representatives of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ghana Rugby Association, Skating, and other federations.
Juliana Addo-Yobo, the Ministry's Head of Legal Affairs and Chairperson for the session, spoke to JoySports about its essence.

‘‘We put together the anti-doping regulations for the newly formed Ghana Anti-Doping Agency. That is why today, we came here to deliberate with our stakeholders to give us their inputs, views, and suggestions to be incorporated and then finally sent back to the office of the Attorney General.’’
‘‘The regulations will guide GADA in its activities so that members and stakeholders will also be clear in how to go about the various issues.’’
The draft regulations covered GADA’s list of prohibited substances (e.g., anabolic steroids, diuretics), the Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs), testing and investigations, the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP), Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), and Strict Liability requirements.
Killian Kwame Abrampah, the Chief Executive Officer of GADA, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the session.

‘‘The regulations give out the details of what the agency is supposed to do and how we are supposed to do it. This is necessary so that the full effect of the law will be experienced.’’
