The National Service Personnel Association (NASPAA) has called on National Service Personnel across the country to actively participate in the two-day National General Cleaning Exercise declared by the Presidency to support post-flood recovery efforts.

In a communiqué issued on Wednesday, July 8, NASPAA urged all service personnel to take part in the exercise scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, within their respective regions, districts, municipalities, institutions and communities of service.

The call follows the Presidency's declaration of the two days as National General Cleaning Days in the seven regions affected by the recent floods.

The exercise, themed "Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the floods," is aimed at desilting choked drains, sweeping major roads and cleaning public spaces, including markets, lorry parks and communal waste collection points.

NASPAA said the initiative provides an opportunity for young people to contribute meaningfully to national development and demonstrate civic responsibility.

"As young people serving the nation, we have a responsibility to demonstrate patriotism, discipline and commitment to community development," the Association said.

The Association also directed its Regional, District and Municipal executives to work closely with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), security agencies, institutional heads and waste management teams to ensure effective mobilisation for the exercise.

NASPAA advised service personnel to make themselves available for the exercise and, where possible, bring along appropriate cleaning tools.

It also urged participants to cooperate fully with the authorities coordinating activities in their respective areas.
