The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commenced a review of the court’s judgement in the case involving the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, as the party considers its next steps.

The NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, announced the development in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, revealing that the party’s leadership, together with its flagbearer and legal team, had convened a meeting to examine the details of the ruling.

Mr Kodua said the discussions were aimed at thoroughly assessing the judgement delivered by the court in relation to the Samreboi mining matter and determining the appropriate course of action for the party.

“The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), together with our flagbearer and the party’s legal team, is currently in a meeting to thoroughly review the judgement delivered by the Court in the case involving our Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, concerning the Samreboi mining matter, and to determine the appropriate next course of action,” he wrote.

He explained that the party would issue an official statement after the conclusion of the deliberations and after decisions had been reached.

“The party will communicate its official position and the decisions arising from these deliberations in due course,” Mr Kodua added.

Against the backdrop of the court’s decision, the NPP General Secretary appealed to party members and supporters to remain calm and maintain confidence in the party’s leadership.

He urged members to rally behind the leadership during what he described as a challenging moment, stressing the importance of unity, discipline and commitment to the ideals of the party.

“In the meantime, I respectfully urge all members of our great Party to rally behind the leadership during this challenging moment. Let us remain calm, united, disciplined, and steadfast in our commitment to the values and interests of the New Patriotic Party,” he stated.
