Chelsea picked up a confidence-boosting pre-season win as they comfortably beat AC Milan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Blues were on top throughout the game, but did not take the lead until first-half stoppage time through Joao Pedro.
The Brazil forward had missed two clear-cut chances earlier in the half, but made no mistake when he headed home an in-swinging corner from six yards.
The attacker then doubled his and Chelsea’s tally just seconds after the break.
From their first attack of the second half, Pedro Neto curled a cross to the far post which Joao Pedro forced past Milan keeper Lorenzo Torriani.
Chelsea added a third goal four minutes later through Moises Caicedo’s fine finish.
A half-cleared corner looped to the Blues captain on the edge of the D, and he struck a volley into the far corner with the outside of his right boot.
After successive friendly defeats by Tottenham and Juventus, there may have been some concerns about this Chelsea side under new manager Xabi Alonso.
However, they produced a much-improved performance to defeat a lacklustre Milan side, coached by ex-Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.
Chelsea could have extended their winning margin too, with Geovany Quenda and Nicolas Jackson both hitting the woodwork.
The Blues conclude their pre-season schedule on Sunday against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (13:00 BST).
Chelsea begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign against Fulham on 24 August.
