The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of emergency and planned maintenance exercises that will result in temporary power outages in several communities across the Tema and Ashanti regions.
The company said the maintenance works are necessary to improve service delivery and maintain the reliability of its electricity distribution network. Residents, businesses and institutions in the affected areas have been advised to take note of the scheduled outage periods and make the necessary arrangements.
The announced exercises cover Saturday, August 22, Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26, with outages lasting between three and eight hours depending on the location.
In the Tema Region, ECG said it will undertake emergency maintenance works on Saturday, August 22.
The temporary power interruption is scheduled for 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
A large number of communities and surrounding areas are expected to be affected by the exercise.
They include Sege, Koluador, Hwakpo, Mataheko, Kasseh, Aqua Safari, Tamatiku, Bedeku, Big Ada, Treasure Island, Ada Foah, SontsoKpa, Ocanseykope, Pute, Totope, Akplabanya, Anyamam, Goe, Kablevu, Nakumkoo, Bonikpe, Segese, Macdan, Luta, Kpeyibo, Agotor, Shilo, Somme (Old and New), Ningo, 12 Coconut Point, Commeci Beach, Dormanya, Kpotsum, Ninsec, Kporhe, Ahwiam, Kporkpo, Mangotsonaya, Ayetepa, Lekpogunor and Wekumagbe.
ECG has also announced planned maintenance works in parts of the Ashanti Region.
One of the exercises is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Communities listed for this exercise include Abankeseso, Dwakeseimu, St Peter’s School, Low Cost, Dodge City, Mfuom, Power Line, Bebianinha, Asikuma, AchiaÂse, Nsuaem 1 and 2, Oponso, Denyase, Mbrayiem and Esase, as well as surrounding areas.
The company said the work forms part of its efforts to improve electricity service delivery and will require a temporary interruption in supply while maintenance is carried out.
Residents and businesses in the affected communities should therefore prepare for the possibility of an extended daytime outage lasting up to eight hours.
Another maintenance exercise has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, also from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
ECG has identified two groups of affected areas for this exercise.
The first group comprises Domeabra, Appiadu Kokoben and Donyina, together with surrounding communities.
The second group includes Gausu, Bidiem, Bogobri, Nana Ponko(h), Binsere, New Baakoyeden, Kyekyewere, Court Area, Amamom, Adaase, Akatakyeso, Nyameso, Nhyiaeso, Tweapiase, Hia, Numberso, Fehiakobo, Sukulmu and Domiabra, as well as surrounding areas.
