The National Communications Authority (NCA) is to establish an international gateway monitoring system to better track calls in and out of the country. The system will help the authority to have an effective telephone and data services clearing house in the country. The NCA has already concluded agreement with the Global Voice Group International Telecoms which will provide consultancy services to the authority in this area. The Minister of Communications, Haruna Iddrisu tells Joy Business this will greatly improve revenue for government and operators. “There are times that you receive an international call as if you are receiving on a local network… when in fact it is supposed to be coming from abroad. That is what we’re trying to monitor closely so that we don’t lose revenue,” he stressed. Mr Iddrisu would not state how the system would function but said the new programme will have no effect on the end user. Source: Joy Business/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
