After being suspended one year from choir, Sandra Afea, aka Obolo of TV3 Mentor 2 fame has been called back to the singing group.
Sandy said that early last year, the leaders in her church, Power Chapel International suspended her and barred her from singing in the choir for something that she did wrong.
She said that her suspension was long before her participation in Mentor and therefore Mentor did not have anything to do with her church’s decision.
Sandy said she accepted the fact she had done wrong against God but she believed that the leaders should have rather advised her and not to suspend her.
“They told me to stop performing in the choir but because I loved my church, I did not quit. I continued to worship there,” she said.
Sandy said that she did not want the public to hear about the incident that happened before she was suspended from the singing group. “It is personal, I want to keep it secret. I don’t want anybody to hear about it”.
Sandy said she was very grateful to the Pastor and the elders in the church for calling her back to join the group. “I am happy that I have been given another chance to sing again in the church”.
Speaking to the founder of the church, Pastor Fredua Agyeman Prempeh, he confirmed that Sandy was not suspended from the church because she joined Mentor 2.
“We did not suspend her because of Mentor but she did wrong which did not portray the real character of a believer. We therefore suspended her from singing in the church” he said.
According to the Pastor, the leaders in the church cautioned and advised her several times about the same wrong doing, but she did not listen to them. “Our intention for her punishment was very good. Now she has learnt her lesson.”
