Police in Kumasi have arrested a suspect they accuse of killing an Islamic Muezzin in the area few weeks ago.
Baba Seidu was suspected to have gunned down the Muslim caller to prayer, who bears the same name as the victim, Baba Seidu in Alabar, Kumasi early July, an attack that sent shock waves to residents in Kumasi.
Seidu, 65, was shot dead close to a mosque. It was unclear why the callous murder was undertaken.
Thursday, the suspect was busted and paraded to the media.
Ashanti Region Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye told the media the suspect was arrested in Aflao in the Volta.
According to him, they picked up intelligence about the suspect's hideouts and quickly went there to smoke him out. The police are continuing with investigation to arrest other accomplices.
