A retired educationist, Mr Sylvester Kumi, has observed that the success of the new education policy greatly depends on selflessness, dedication and commitment of teachers who are the implementers of the programme. He said the provision of educational infrastructure and other facilities without adequate motivation of teachers would not yield the desired results. Speaking to the GNA, Mr Kumi said if teachers failed to effect the needed changes in the educational system and contribute to the success of the new policy, education delivery would deteriorate. Mr. Kumi stated that the Government's commitment in the provision of quality education in the country was acceptable and advocated regular and intensive training programmes for teachers to improve their professional knowledge and skills. He implored teachers not to deny children their right to quality education but to continue to sacrifice and commit themselves to their work to ensure the success of the education policy. Source: GNA
