Board of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital has dismissed allegations of mismanagement leveled against the Chief Executive Officer of the facility.
The Senior Staff Association of the hospital earlier this month demanded the resignation of Dr Gilbert Buckle because they believe he is repeating the mistakes of his predecessors.
The group also accused Dr Buckle of being disrespectful to staff and arrogance.
They passed a vote of no confidence in Dr Buckle citing various reasons including the lack of medicines at the hospital’s pharmacy.
President of the Association, Charles Offei Palm told Joy News that all is not well with the hospital.
“If we are saying something and it is not true, then we are being poisonous but if what we are saying is true then people should know that something is wrong.”
He said staff members should be made part of the process in selecting a CEO for the hospital, saying “it will be a good idea.”
However, in a response to the angry staff, Management of the hospital held a press conference Monday refuting all the allegations leveled against the CEO.
Board Chairman, Anthony Mawuli Sallah told Joy News in an interview that “all the allegations have no foundation. They are baseless and are untrue.”
“I have not seen a speck of arrogance by the CEO,” he added.
He said it was baffling for the staff to accuse the CEO of mismanaging the hospital’s resources when in just under 14 months in office he together with the board have managed to almost completely settle a 6 million debt owed by the facility.
According to him, since the CEO assumed office, revenue generated in some departments has risen to 1 million cedis, “how do you mismanage a hospital when all these things are happening,” he queried.
