Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, Chairperson of the 2025 Constitution Review Committee, has said the government should have formally communicated its position on constitutional reforms to the current committee to help guide its work.

Speaking on JoyNews' PM Express on Monday, August 3, where he discussed the progress of the ongoing constitutional review process, he said the committee would have benefited from understanding the government's priorities and expectations from the outset.

According to him, such a position would not have compromised the committee's independence but would have provided useful context as it undertook its mandate to review the 1992 Constitution and consult widely with the public.

His comments formed part of a broader discussion on the work of the Constitution Review Committee, during which he also called for the review process to remain free from partisan politics.

He cautioned against rushing constitutional amendments, and stressed the need for extensive public consultations before any recommendations are adopted.
