Breast Care International (BCI) has indicated that it will from next year intensify its campaign on breast cancer awareness across the country.
The aim for the drive is to make Ghana the African hub for the education and treatment of breast cancer across the globe.
This was contained in a statement to thank the general public and its sponsors who help make 2015 a success ahead of the yuletide.
Below is the full statement
We are suddenly rounding up another year, a year full of bliss and challenges.
A year that characterized increased patronage of our awareness creation programs one breadth, while illiteracy, ignorance and crunch poverty in another, conspired, to keep a marginal percentage of the populace, from accessing our free screening programs.
These constraints notwithstanding, this is the season of joy and merry-making, sufficient reason why we join millions of Ghanaians to bask in the celebrations.
The Board, Management and Staff of Breast Care international and Peace And Love Hospitals, wish our cherished sponsors, heads of educational institutions, chiefs and queen mothers, students, corporate Ghana, market women, survivors and indeed all Ghanaians a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
May the New Year bring forth prosperity, bumper harvest, and peace and solidarity for mother Ghana as we head to the polls.
2015 in retrospect
On October 31 2015, (and forth fifth year running), Breast Care International/ Peace and Love Hospitals, and our cherished sponsors, successfully organized the annual walkfor the cure in the Western regional capital, Sekondi-Takoradi, drawing a record crowd of forty thousand participants.
The Sekondi -Takoradi event came on the heels of similarly successful walks in Kumasi,(twice-2011-2012), Accra,(2013) and Sunyani,(2014).
The 2015 Walk forthecure, highlighted our countrywide drive of creating awareness and disseminating information about breast cancer.
We credit our success to corporate Ghana, the hard-working staff of the two institutions, and the good people of Ghana, without whose support, nothing could have been achieved.
Projecting into the future
The task has been daunting, but not insurmountable. Travelling the country to sensitize and educate our womenfolk had not been an easy task but we are encouraged by the massive turn-out and warm reception where ever we go to keep the campaign alive and kicking.
Our projection and mission statement, is to significantly reduce the incidence of the condition, and make Ghana the African hub for the education, and treatment of breast cancer.
Conclusion
Breast Care International and Peace And Love Hospitals reiterate our joint resolve to resolutely stand by the women of Ghana. Their health is our priority, a premium we will never compromise on.
We remain eternally grateful to all who have flown our flag aloft, and encourage in as many Ghanaians to join the crusade against this deadly disease threatening womanhood, productivity and indeed human sustenance.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.
