The Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board (NAB) has implored the general public to make a formal complaint to the board, private institutions who fail to meet the educational standards expected of them. Speaking in an interview to Myjoyonline.com after the grand opening of Radford University in Accra on Saturday, Mr Kwame Darteh said; “If anybody thinks he is being shortchanged the person should report to the NAB and corrective measures to be taken. “Ultimately the accreditation can be revoked anytime if the institution doesn’t keep up with the standards for which the accreditation was given,” he emphasized. His comments come in the wake of reports of falling standards of education in some private tertiary institutions in the country. He further urged parent institutions who agree to affiliate with new institutions to put in monitoring mechanisms to ensure that products coming out of the new institution are comparable to those of the parent institutions. Beyond that the NAB has a quality assurance team aided by an auditing team who pay unannounced visits to institutions to ensure that standards are kept, he said. He pointed out that the NAB was fascinated by the decision of Radford University to venture into the sciences, adding the facilities in the institution and vision of the founder was worth acknowledging.
