Professor Dr Dr Daniel Buor, Provost of the College of Arts and Social Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been appointed as the first Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Valley View University (VVU). He succeeds Pastor Dr Seth Laryea who has been the President of the university for the past 18 years. Dr Laryea's tenure of office expires on June 30 this year. After mare than 20 years of academic excellence, this is the first time a head of the university has been given the prerogative to become a Vice Chancellor (VC). Prof. Buor's six-year term as the Provost of the College of Arts and Social Sciences at the KNUST ends on September 30, this year. Prof. Buor is a Professor of Medical Geography and holds BA (Hons) in Geography and MPhil in Geography and Resource Development from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds a PhD in Medical Geography from the University of Ghana and a PhD in Health Care Studies from the Maastricht University, The Netherlands. According to the Chairman of the VVU Search Committee, Pastor George Wahu, "times and seasons have changed for Valley View University to also get a Vice Chancellor". Pastor Wahu, who is also an Executive Secretary of the Ghana Union Conference (GUC) of the SDA, cited the current Vice Chancellor ship status at the Babcock University - a Seventh-day Adventist university in Nigeria as example to buttress his point. Prof. Dr. Dr. Daniel Buor confirmed this and told the Daily Graphic at his office in Kumasi that he had been served a provisional appointment letter to be a VC of the university.
