Playboy football star Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he has become a dad - but mystery surrounds the identity of the baby boy's mum.
Today sensational reports in Portugal suggested Ronaldo paid a SURROGATE mother to have his baby son.
The Real Madrid player, 25, told of the birth in an announcement posted on his official website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
But he refused to reveal who the child's mother was and said his son would be brought up by HIS family.
The child was born on June 17 - two days after Portugal played the Ivory Coast in the World Cup - reports in Portugal said.
Daily newspaper Diario de Noticias said it understood the baby was conceived by a surrogate mum at the end of last summer in San Diego, where Ronaldo was on holiday.
It gave no further details about the claim.
His youngest sister, Katia Aveiro, speaking from Vilamoura, in the Algarve, confirmed the birth to Diario de Noticias.
She said: "He is very happy, of course, who wouldn't be happy to have children?"
She said the baby boy has dark eyes and hair like his father.
She confirmed the news to a Portuguese newspaper saying: "The news is true, but he doesn't want to talk about it. It's his personal life and when he wants to, he will talk."
Ms Aveiro said Ronaldo would make an official announcement after he had returned from Madrid, where he is dealing with professional matters.
She did not give the baby's name.
A spokesman for Ronaldo's management company Getsifute confirmed that the footballer had become a father but refused to comment on the surrogacy claims, the latest bizarre twist to the story.
The spokesman said: "It is correct that Cristiano Ronaldo has become a father.
"The message on his website is genuine. It is not a hoax, as some people have suggested.
"But we won't be making any further comment.
"We have seen the reports coming out of Portugal but won't be commenting on them."
The Portuguese star wrote on Saturday evening: "It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become a father to a baby boy.
"As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship."
It was claimed last night his mum Dolores and sisters Elma and Katia were preparing to bring the child to Portugal, where he will be raised.
Reports in Portugal suggested that the child had been born early last month.
Ronaldo's current girlfriend - Russian underwear model Irina Shayk, 24 - reportedly wrote on her Facebook page: "My boyfriend is, now, the father of a boy."
But speaking from his home in Madeira yesterday, the footballer's godfather Fernao Sousa said: "I haven't heard anything about it. It is news to me."
Randy Ronaldo's conquests include Italian model Letizia Filippi, 32, and Brazilian beauty Raica Oliveira, 26.
It was also suggested the mother could be American. The former Manchester United winger has spent several holidays in the States - most famously after sealing his $80 million transfer to Real last summer.
While there he was snapped in a Los Angeles nightclub canoodling with heiress Paris Hilton, 29.
Ronaldo, who scored once during Portugal's disappointing World Cup run in South Africa, also had flings with Brit beauties including soap star Gemma Atkinson, 25.
In 2007, two escort girls told how they bedded the multi-millionaire star at his Cheshire home - while wearing Tesco knickers.
Tyese Cunningham and Gemma Storey were hired by a pal of the player for the night along with three other girls.
Tyese, 21, said: "We were being paid to be there but he didn't treat me with an ounce of respect."
US swimwear model Niki Ghazian told how Ronaldo stunned her in bed - despite wearing an orthopaedic boot for a foot injury.
Blonde Niki, 26, said: "It was restricted - but we made the best of a bad job.
"When you are in bed with the world's most gorgeous man you'll forgive him anything.
"I'd be lying if I said the boot didn't get in the way - but the rest of his body was incredible.
"He really took my breath away."
Ronaldo's ex Nereida Gallardo, 26, blasted after their split in 2008: "Every week another girl comes along talking about him.
"After dumping me I don't know how many there have been. Eighty thousand?"
