Lawyer for British fugitive, Philip Daniel McDermott says his client is officially opposing extradition because it was done through the wrong process.
Mr. Victor Kojogah Adawudu in his final summary, Tuesday argued that his client can be tried for any offence here in Ghana.
According to Joy News' Raymond Acquah who was at the Accra circuit court, Adawudu said the extradition case has no merit.
Adawudu said McDermott cannot be extradited because the extradition treaty between Ghana and the United Kingdom signed in 1932 has been repealed by the Extradition Act.
He said if the state thinks his client has committed any narcotic offences, the courts in Ghana have jurisdiction to try matters in relation to Conspiracy, abetment and all offences related to narcotics.
Mr Adawudu wants the court to declare that there is no extradition treaty between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
However, the state prosecutor said they wanted McDermott to go back to the UK and face justice because he committed crimes there.
