On Monday, President John Dramani Mahama bagan the week on a dramatic note with accusation the New Patriotic Party sidelined the Volta Region as far as infrastructural development was concerned.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Keta in the Volta Region, Sunday, the President appealed to the people of the region to ignore the NPP’s claim that his government had taken them for granted.

Later on the same day, President Mahama appointed Dr Nasiru Issahaku as the Governor of Bank of Ghana.

The appointment followed a decision by Dr. Kofi Wampah who took an early retirement, four months before the end of his term on August 05, 2016.

And also, some members of the Korle Bu Senior Staff Association (KOSSA) gave hospital authorities a forty-eight-hour ultimatum to reinstate Senior Staff President, Charles Offei-Palm.

Mr Offei-Palm was interdicted by management of the hospital last week for granting an interview to an Accra based Class FM.

Tuesday, a seven-member jury was selected to try Gregory Afoko, the man indicted for the murder of the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adams Mahama.

And also Prof Quarm, the author of the controversial science book for primary school pupils vehementlydefended the publication which made carrying load a function of the human head.

On Wednesday, the National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE  denied ownership of vehicles alleged to have been rebranded to support the NDC's campaign ahead of the November elections.

The Managing Director of Marbles and Granites Limited had been arrested for allegedly circulating pictures with a claim that some 50 Mahindra vehicles belonging to the NCCE were being rebranded to support NDC's campaign ahead of the November general elections.

The pictures went viral on social media accompanied by the message “NCCE Mahindra vehicles being rebranded with NDC colours."

He said the yard on which the vehicles were parked belongs to him and it was not right for Mr Ayo Ani to take any pictures.

Also, a Physics Practical paper of the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) exams leaked hours before the paper was to be taken Wednesday.

The paper brought to three, other question papers that had leaked since the exam began last Friday. 

But the West Africa Examination Council said the question papers had not leaked but students had “foreknowledge” of the questions.

The Council said it was not going to cancel papers that had already been taken by candidates.

On Thursday,  as part of the World Health Day, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) confirmed that 450,000 Ghanaians are living with diabetes.

The 2015 report indicated that 75 percent of the cases, remained undiagnosed, posing an increased danger of complications for people living with diabetes.

On Thursday Former President John Agyekum Kufuor hit back at president John Dramani Mahama for suggesting that the NPP sidelined the Volta Region in terms of developmental projects.

Speaking at his residence in Accra when the newly elected NPP MP for Abuakwa North paid a courtesy call on him, Mr Kufuor accused the NDC of squandering funds meant for development in the region particularly in their handling of the Keta Sea Defense Project.

Also, former Works and Housing Minister, Kwamena Bartels said former President Kufuor undertook a lot of developmental projects in the region despite the low electoral support from the people.

Also on Joy News’ Majority and Minority caucuses, the two major political parties set the record straight on the developmental projects.

Then on Friday, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) nabbed three people at the Ascension Senior High School in the Ashanti Region over examination malpractice and exam paper leakage.

An English Literature teacher and a candidate – both from the same school were arrested for trying to sneak foreign materials containing solved questions to other candidates.

Also, the Ghana Bar Association in a statement condemned the conduct of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) in the handling of some three South African ex-cops who were arrested.
