The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is accusing the Finance Ministry of deliberately delaying the validation processes which will allow for members to be paid their arrears.
There is an ongoing exercise to validate the documents of teachers to facilitate payments but GNAT says the Finance Ministry has failed to release funds needed for the validation exercise to be completed.
GNAT fears the validation team may suspend its work again by end of this week after an earlier suspension.
Speaking with JOY NEWS, Head of Compensation at GNAT Ahinakwa Quarshie said the Finance Ministry is the cause of all the challenges.
"We have not finished the first data that was sent in by the Ghana Education Service and we are to break again.
"I see that as a deliberate ploy by the employers to do that. We did not ask for the validation.
"Government accepted the fact that they owe us and that before they make payments they will have to do the validation," he said.
He accused the Finance Ministry of starving the team with money to continue with the validation process.
"I am blaming Ministry of Finance because they are supposed to release funds for the organisation of this validation.
"When are we going to complete the process and pay teachers their money," he asked.
He said government had set an April 15 deadline for the validation process to completed and wondered they have been asked to break when they have not completed the project and do not appear to be in a position to meet the deadline.
