His divorce has been finalized and his ex-wife has opened up to PEOPLE. Now, it's Tiger Woods's turn to speak out.
"I wish her the best in everything," he said Wednesday at a press conference at The Barclays golf tournament in New Jersey. "It's a sad time in our lives. And we're looking forward to how we can help our kids the best way we possibly can. And that's the most important thing."
When a reporter asked Woods if he still loves Elin Nordegren, he didn't answer, instead repeating, "That's the most important thing."
Asked if he was "relieved" with the split, Woods paused. "I don't think that's the word," he says. I think it's just more sadness. Because I don't think you ever – you don't ever go into a marriage looking to get divorced. That's the thing. That's why it is sad."
Woods admits that he would change things if he could. "My actions certainly led us to this decision," he said. "And I've certainly made a lot of errors in my life and that's something I'm going to have to live with."
After saying that the divorce "was a lot more difficult than I was letting on," Woods once again addressed the PEOPLE interview. "I certainly understand that she is sad," he said. "And I feel the same way."
