Joy FM’s Read 100 Project came to a climax Friday with four brilliant young pupils justifying why they, other than thousands of other competitors, deserve a place in Disneyland - America’s and the world’s greatest amusement park.
Godsway Annih of Ancilla International School, Norkplim Mattah, Kwegyir Aggrey International School, Nana Kwame Ansong, Ridge Church School and Maame Araba of University Primary answered tough questions from Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah in a bid to secure the three Zain sponsored slots for the trip to Disneyland.
They were to answer questions from three books they have religiously read for the past four months and after four long rounds of sizzling question and answer sessions, Godsway had all hope gone; he was to be left out of the trip to Disneyland but somehow, his name-Godsway was faithful to him. Joy FM took the extra expense to have Godsway’s long held ambition realized.
He was in tears; his father’s eyelids laden with tears; the three others and their parents were overjoyed. The Joy FM studio was crammed, workers and family members of the four prodigies trooped in to catch a glimpse of an emotional moment in the lives of the young kids.
They had come a long way. What began as a project to whip up interest in reading among Ghanaian youth had over three thousand competitors trying their luck.
