Three Hollywood icons and other celebrated movie directors will on the 23rd to 28th of November this year storm Ghana to participate in the maiden edition of the Accra International Film Festival (AIFF).
The stars who have already confirmed their participation include Louis Cameron Gassett Jnr., a renowned American actor best known for his role in ‘An Officer and a Gentleman.’
The others include Eriq La Salle, an American actor and director, known for his portrayals of Darryl in the 1988 Comedy film ‘Coming To America’ and Dr. Peter Benton on the NBC drama series ‘ER’.
Another top Hollywood movie star coming to the festival is Charles Burnett, a film director who featured David Dontoh as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in his film ‘Namibia’.
The AIFF is a concept jointly instituted by the Katamandra, a Ghanaian film company and Pan African Festival (PAFF) to create the platform for the international film stars to share their rich experience and expertise with other African counterparts.
The film festival also aims at placing Ghanaian movies on international screens to attract investors for the growth of the Ghanaian film and hospitality industry.
As part of the programme, the international stars will pay a courtesy call on the President at the Castle on the 23rd of this month and also screen forty films for various awards at the plush Silverbird Cinema at the Accra Mall on the same day.
There will also be a day’s workshop to cross fertilise ideas and to see the possible areas they could hold up to fortify the film industry, especially in Africa.
