The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has given the government six days to address concerns of university teachers who are on strike or face the wrath of students across the country. NUGS told a news conference in Accra Thursday that the situation is affecting students and must be dealt with without any further delay. NUGS president, Anthony Afriyie Abochie who addressed the press conference, said the union was also pleading with the teachers to consider returning to the classrooms while the government meets their demands. He said the union was also concerned about the chaotic nature of the national population and housing census exercise which he described as an important national assignment. “The Statistical Service will have to double up and make up for the lost time,” he stated. NUGS also touched on the raging controversies surrounding admissions to senior high schools. The NUGS President urged parents to get involved and help restore sanity in the schools to create a congenial atmosphere for learning.
