The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Colonel Cyril Necku (Rtd), has presented school uniforms to pupils of the Agbate Local Authority Primary School in the South-Dayi District, with on call on them to wear the dresses only to school.
Presenting the uniforms to the pupils at a brief ceremony last Wednesday, he asked the pupils to resist the temptation of wearing the uniforms to the farm, market, church and other social functions.
Col. Necku(rtd) implored parents and guardians to stop engaging their children in activities that would distract their educational pursuit saying, "parents must know that a day out of school is not 'fie best".
He, therefore, encouraged the pupils to be regular at school to be able to make good grades for a better future.
The South-Dayi District Chief Executive, Kafui Bekoe, urged the pupils to take good care of the uniforms and study hard to justify the investment being made in them.
The District Director of Education, Mrs Veronica Adzato said since the school was established in 1973 it had not witnessed any renovation and appealed to the government for help.
"The foundation of the building is weak, while the roof is leaking terribly and needs urgent repair works," she said.
Some of the pupils, who were' not in school uniforms changed into the new dresses beaming with smiles.
