The Executives of the National Union of Ghana Students have accused their President of sidelining them. They say Anthony Abotsi Afriyie’s actions do not represent the true interests of Ghanaian students. According to them, all information given by Afriyie on the position of NUGS in relation to the UTAG strike are not the exact position of Ghanaian students. They are therefore cautioning the public against whatever Afriyie says. The General Secretary of NUGS, Patrick Adonoo accused the NUGS President of taking sides in the standoff between UTAG and the government. “We believe he has a secret agenda he is pushing through,” he added. The President of NUGS, Anthony Abotsi Afriyie has however rubbished the allegation. He said by the NUGS constitution, the president is the only spokesperson, who communicates decisions taken by the National Executive Committee to students and the general public. “The public cannot take his (Patrick Adonoo’s) comments serious,” he asserted.
