Nana Emelia Rachel Fosu, Headmistress of Nkoranza Senior High School (SHS), has urged the town's folk to enroll their children in the school to enhance their development.
She disclosed that out of the 450 fresh students admitted to school this year, only 87 of them were locals of Nkoranza, the rest mostly from Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions.
Nana Fosu, who is queen-mother of Tuobodom in Techiman Municipality, was addressing members of the board of governors of the school at a maiden meeting on Wednesday.
Nana Fosu, who was recently transferred from Jinijini SHS in Berekum district, said she had identified Science and English Language as challenges to students of the school and had arranged for supporting teachers to solve the problem.
She disclosed that the Ministry of Education had given approval for the construction of an administrative block for the school and the project would soon be awarded on contract.
The headmistress appealed to the board of governors, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and her staff to support her to enhance the image of the school.
Mr. Bright Owusu, Chairman of the PTA, commended the District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum and the District Assembly for initiating a number of development projects in the school.
He said the parents had purchased 15 computers and power stabilizers for the school to enhance the teaching of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Education.
The Chairman of the board of governors, Mr. Owusu Sekyere, commended the headmistress for accepting to serve at the school and said she would be a role model for the promotion of the girl-child education in the district.
Mr. Sekyere assured the headmistress of the maximum support of stakeholders to help transform the institution to a model school.
