It was the second year of what is becoming an annual ritual, Ghana Worships with Sonnie Badu. The gospel artiste, prior to this performance, was a popular figure following a successful 2009 concert and several international awards this year. The name Worshiper as he is affectionately called, is no fluke; his sheer excellence and never quenching spirit he uses to praise the Most High is always on display; Saturday night was no exception. The concert started in the competitive arena of other huge events lined up Saturday night and many would have seen failure steering in the face of the concert but to the contrary, it was bigger and better than last year’s. The National Theatre, venue for the concert, had the grand floor almost filled before the concert begun and minutes into it, organisers started directing the hundreds trooping the venue to the upper floor of the venue. Francis Amo who is yet to have an album to his name set the National Theatre on fire. This energetic non-stop dancing machine was on a different pedestal. Dishing out tunes not new to Ghanaians, Francis opened the flood gates to non-stop dancing. A ‘Sonnie Badu junior’ is already warming up the expectant crowd and so he did. Other artistes including Adehyie Royal Chorus graced the stage before the arrival of the man, Sonnie Badu. His arrival was not to be until a beautiful, spell bounding choreography was staged.
