Polytechnic students in Kumasi are demanding the resignation of the Education Minister Alex Tettey-Enyo and his Deputy Dr. J. S. Annan. They accuse the pair of demonstrating incompetence in their handling of the strike by polytechnic teachers. The students also say the ministers have made mockery of polytechnic education with their utterances and actions during the period of the strike. The GNUPS President at the Kumasi Polytechnic, Abraham Borketey claimed the Education Minister snubbed calls by the striking teachers to meet with President Mills. Mr Borketey also accused Dr J.S. Annan of making mockery of polytechnic students by suggesting that the HND course should rather be spelt hND. Given this attitude, the GNUPS president believes the two ministers had exhibited bad faith in dealing with the POTAG strike and must be forced to resign. Source: Joy News/Ghana
